Counselling and therapy in Huddersfield and surrounding areas

Hi. Welcome to my website

Important Notice

Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, unfortunately I am unable to offer face to face counselling at present. I am, however, offering telephone counselling as an alternative but I am currently fully booked and I don't operate a waiting list.

Are you feeling down, depressed, hopeless, stressed, anxious and want to address the issues that are contributing to these feelings? Have you been on a counselling waiting list for a number of weeks or even months and are feeling frustrated with the long wait? If you decide to contact me I will offer you an initial assessment as soon as possible. Then, if we agree to work together you will be offered an appointment to start therapy within two weeks. Please read on to find out how I may be able to help you.

About me

I have worked as a Counsellor in Huddersfield and surrounding areas for over sixteen years. During that time I have had the privilege of working with many people experiencing many different issues and witnessed first hand the powerful impact of talking therapy. As well as private practice, I have worked in other settings including G.P`s surgeries (as in house counsellor), schools, and community centres. I am also an Occupational Health Counsellor providing counselling to local council employees within the Occupational therapy department.

In addition, I have worked as Counsellor for Insight Healthcare in Calderdale, offering step 3 face to face counselling and the Staff Counselling and Psychological Support Service at Leeds University.

I hope you will find the following information useful, particularly if you are considering contacting me for counselling.

Issues covered

I offer a confidential counselling and therapy service to adults over the age of 18. I specialise in short term therapy and cover a range of issues including stress, depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, work related issues, sexual abuse, emotional and physical abuse, anger, relationship problems, decision making, low self confidence, panic attacks, low self esteem and inner child issues. This list is not exhaustive. Even if your issue is not included I may still be able to work with you so please enquire.

I also have a mindfulness instructor Diploma and when appropriate I integrate mindfulness in to my counselling model. Research has shown that mindfulness techniques can dramatically reduce stress and I have worked with many people who have experienced this first hand. Please click on the qualification page for further details.

Location and areas of service

My counselling practice is within easy reach of Huddersfield, Wakefield, Halifax, Elland, Brighouse and Dewsbury. My consulting room, is based at St James Church and Parish Centre, Rawthorpe, Huddersfield HD5 9NG. There is disabled access should this be required.
